Automatic cleaning of a kitchen ventilation system, why it is so important! Today, a good kitchen ventilation system must be cleaned and disinfected automatically. But why actually? We have already explained this in an interview. Now there’s even a new YouTube expert talk video from us. All links to this at the end of the blog article.
In this blog article, we explain why automatic kitchen ventilation cleaning is so important – and what makes our REVEX® system particularly good.
Why do kitchen ventilation systems need to be cleaned regularly?
Cooking always produces steam, grease and fine dirt particles in the air. These are deposited in the kitchen hood and in the filters(aerosol separator).
The problem:
Greasy films quickly form there. These provide a good breeding ground for bacteria and mold. In addition, old grease increases the risk of fire because it can ignite spontaneously.
That’s why they need to be cleaned regularly. In many kitchens even daily.
This is also stated in VDI Guideline 2052 Sheet 2.
Why is automatic cleaning useful in a kitchen ventilation system?
In small kitchens, it may be possible to remove filters by hand and put them in the dishwasher. But this is hardly possible in large kitchens.
There are often 50 or 60 filters hanging at a height of over three meters. Cleaning them by hand every day? That’s very laborious and takes a lot of time. Accidents can also happen. This is precisely why we developed the REVEX® system. It makes cleaning automatic – safe, simple and reliable.
How the REVEX® system works
The REVEX® system cleans the filters from both sides – automatically.
How does it work?
- First, pre-rinse with hot water.
- Then clean thoroughly with detergent and hot water.
- This is followed by a rinse.
- At the end, the filters dry with the help of the ventilation.
This happens outside cooking times, usually at night. Nobody has to climb ladders or remove the filters. All the information on this can be found in a new PDF guide, including information on VDI Guideline 2052 Sheet 2:
What are the advantages of automatic cleaning of a kitchen ventilation system?
The REVEX® system offers many advantages:
- It keeps the kitchen hygienically clean.
- It protects the health of employees.
- It reduces the risk of fire.
- It saves water and energy.
- It saves a lot of time and work.
- It significantly reduces operating and maintenance costs.
- It extends the service life of the ventilation system.
What’s more, the REVEX® system complies with hygiene guidelines.
Why is cleaning from both sides important?
Many systems on the market only clean the filters from the front. However, grease and dirt also collect on the back. If you only rinse one side, germs can continue to build up there. Our REVEX® system therefore cleans the filters from both sides. This was also verified in tests with a university. The result: there is no more germ growth after cleaning.
For whom is automatic cleaning in a kitchen ventilation system worthwhile?
Such a system is particularly useful:
- In large company canteens
- In hospital kitchens
- In hotels
- In the food industry
- For kitchens with more than 30 filters
- For high ceilings where the filters are difficult to reach
Automatic cleaning saves a lot of time, staff and money, especially in kitchens like this. It also ensures greater safety and hygiene. Find out all the details in our new YouTube Expert Talk:

Conclusion: Automatic cleaning in a kitchen ventilation system is a must today
In the past, when planning kitchen ventilation systems, people often only paid attention to the price. But later, operators were annoyed by high costs for cleaning and personnel.
With our REVEX® system, you save these costs. At the same time, you protect the health of your employees and increase safety. The system also meets the requirements of VDI Guideline 2052 Sheet 2.
That’s why we say: In many kitchens today, automatic kitchen ventilation cleaning is a must.
