Gray cast iron? No problem! How MAN Energy Solutions relies on our air cleaners for gray cast iron processing: MAN Energy Solutions in Oberhausen is pursuing a clear goal: “Moving big things to zero.” The company is doing everything it can to make its production more sustainable – not only in terms of its products, but also in terms of its manufacturing processes. Our contribution to clean production
Our compact X-CYCLONE® CR-XSC air cleaners have been in use at MAN for over a year. They ensure that the black dust produced during the processing of gray cast iron is removed safely and cleanly – without any conventional filters. We already reported on this in an earlier blog post:
Why no filter? Quite simply
Cast iron dust is particularly stubborn. Conventional air cleaners with filters clog up quickly and often require maintenance or expensive replacement. Our solution is different: the X-CYCLONE separator works mechanically and cleans itself thanks to our automatic REVEX® spray technology. This keeps the air clean – and the system low-maintenance. Successful test – satisfied customer
After 12 months of testing, MAN can draw a clear conclusion: Our devices are running stably. Maintenance was only necessary in isolated cases. All other systems have been showing “green” on the intelligent LED display on the devices for a year. This reliability has convinced us – and opened the door for the next step.
Next challenge – GF Liechti Turbomill with heavy-duty machining
The next station was a GF Liechti Turbomill 1400 – a machine with particularly high requirements. We initially used our compact C-6 XSC unit, but quickly realized that this was not quite enough. After retrofitting our PIPE system for condensate separation, the extraction system ran perfectly. Another success – to MAN’s satisfaction. Why MAN relies on our solution
Despite a filter unit from a competitor that was still in working order, MAN decided to switch to our technology. Why? Our systems cause no follow-up costs due to filter replacement, no hazardous waste disposal – and the extracted cooling lubricant can even be reused. It could hardly be more sustainable.
