What is the ozone limit value for ventilation systems in industry? Before we discuss the limit value for ozone in industrial outdoor areas, it is worth taking a look at the valid limit values for indoor areas. <\/p>\n\n

Ozone suspected of causing cancer!<\/h3>\n\n

In many European countries, the limit value for indoor ozone is still set at a maximum of 2,000 micrograms of ozone per cubic meter of indoor air. This was also the previous ozone limit value in Germany, but it has been abolished! In Switzerland, however, this limit value still exists. According to the classification criteria for carcinogenic substances of the German Research Foundation (DFG), ozone is classified as a substance that has not yet been sufficiently investigated but is suspected of causing cancer in humans. <\/p>\n\n

The ozone limit value in outdoor areas.<\/h3>\n\n

The Federal Environment Agency provides information on the limit value in outdoor areas and the health risks. It warns that ozone in the air can lead to reduced lung function, inflammatory reactions in the airways and respiratory problems. <\/p>\n\n

For example, even at a limit value of 180 micrograms of ozone in one cubic meter of urban air, recommendations and warnings are issued to the population via the media. These recommendations and warnings correspond to the information threshold. An alarm threshold is triggered at 240 micrograms of ozone in one cubic meter of urban air. In addition, it should be noted that outdoor ozone levels may exceed a value of 120 micrograms per cubic meter of urban air on average over 8 hours on a maximum of 25 days per calendar year. <\/p>\n\n

The ozone limit value in industry using the example of kitchen exhaust air.<\/h3>\n\n

At the same time, experts in the field of kitchen ventilation are still informing us that the permissible ozone limit value for exhaust air systems is 20,000 micrograms per cubic meter of air. <\/strong>This information has its origins in the European standard DIN 16282, a work to which many national industry associations have also contributed. <\/p>\n\n

This standard states that the concentration of ozone in the exhaust air of a commercial kitchen must not exceed 10 ppm. At an air pressure of 1013 hectopascals and a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, the 10 ppm ozone specified there corresponds almost exactly to a limit value of 20,000 micrograms of ozone per cubic meter of air. <\/p>\n\n

We think that in this example, too, the differences and differences between indoor and outdoor areas speak for themselves and do not need to be explained further. Here too, it should be clear to everyone what needs to be done, namely to prevent ozone completely, whether indoors or outdoors! <\/p>\n\n
